Overview of the CSSLP

Each software lifecycle (SLC) stakeholder is responsible for certain phase(s) of the SLC, but all phases must have security built into them. CSSLP is for all the stakeholders involved in the process. Each of the 7 Domains of the CSSLP covers how to build security into the different phases. CSSLP is for everyone involved in the Software Lifecycle with at least 4 years experience.

Why should I obtain the CSSLP?

There are no safeguards that the software we all depend upon is secure. A growing number of global organizations and experts believe the enterprise is at great risk because the applications sitting on a user’s laptop can be entry points for a potentially devastating hack or worm. The Gartner Group estimates that over 70% of security vulnerabilities exist at the application layer.

CSSLP Certification Process

To be issued a certificate, a candidate must:

  • Pass the CSSLP examination
  • Submit a properly completed and executed Endorsement Form (pdf)
  • Successfully pass an audit of their assertions regarding professional experience, if the candidate is selected for audit.
